The Twisty Recess Cafe Rod

No brackets. No drilling. No fixings at all. 'The Twisty' is a tension rod that grips into your window recess by twisting — extend it slightly wider than your recess, twist it firmly into place, and it holds itself there. Done in minutes, removable in seconds.

The right choice for renters, listed buildings, or anyone who simply doesn't want to put holes in their walls. Works beautifully with slot top café curtains in lightweight fabrics — the kind of easy, unfussy installation that suits the café curtain perfectly.

How to fit it

Measure your window recess width, then choose a rod size that extends at least 20cm beyond that measurement. This gives enough tension to hold the rod firmly — a rod extended to its maximum won't grip well enough. For example, if your recess measures 60cm, choose the 56-91cm rod rather than the 41-61cm rod.

Either extend the rod 1-2cm wider than the recess and squeeze it in, or hold it inside the recess and twist until it's firmly in place. The more tension, the stronger the hold.

Each size shown is the minimum to maximum extension range — choose a size that extends at least 20cm beyond your recess width.

A note on fabric weight
'The Twisty' is designed for lightweight slot top café curtains — our sheer and linen-look fabrics all work well. Heavier fabrics may cause the rod to bow over time. If you're unsure whether your chosen fabric is suitable, drop us a message before you order.

Need extra support?
For wider windows, a centre support hook is available separately to prevent any bow at the midpoint.
